Odin

I can’t believe it. My sweetest little Odin, you are 9 months new.

You are such a sweetie. You give high fives and blow little kisses. You suck your cheeks in so deep into your mouth that you look like a little goldfish gasping for air.

DSC_0340DSC_0342

You love to unpack cupboards and watch television with your mouth wide open. Granny Gladys tells me you LOVE to watch Barney (eek!).

DSC_0313 DSC_0318You also love to feed yourself. You have discovered it’s quite funny when you spit out your food. You love to finger paint once you’ve spat out your meal. Your best friend Lily also enjoys when you eat because there’s always a fountain of food raining down on her. You especially love tomatoes and baby marrows. Another favorite of yours is when we give you a large piece of biltong to ‘gum’ on (you don’t have any teethies yet).

You’re not crawling yet, however you love to stand. You get quite upset when we want to make you sit down. You love when we hold on to your little arms so you can walk around. It is the cutest thing! You take such b-i-g steps with such purpose.

You sleep in between daddy and I at night. At first it was because we said this winter was too cold for you to sleep on your own. At the moment, I’m starting to think we put you in our bed so we can get to see and spend a little more time with you. You have developed such a charming little personality and we miss you when we’re not with you.

You are the happiest giggling little boy. Your laugh is the best sound in the world!

We love you so much. You are SUCH a delight!

P.S. See month 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 here.

P.P.S. Did you see the watermark on my pictures? Yeah, I’m cheating on With Big Yellow Dogs blog on Yellow Lab blog. It’s the same principle really, except Yellow Lab is a bit more professional as hubby and I have (finally!) decided to pursue our dreams. I’ve moved this entire blog to Yellow Lab. Please come have a look at the site and follow along there. I’d also LOVE to know what you think of the new site, our name and the branding!

Not a day goes by that we don’t utter the words, he’s so cute, Odie’s so adorable, he’s so clever, look at you!

Odin, we love you so much. Your dad and I just want to hold, squish, hug and love you. Your grannies and grandaddies absolutely adore you too. You have all your loved ones wrapped around your little pinkies.

When I see someone else holding you, I simply can not believe how big you’ve grown. The saying “kids grow like weeds” are absolutely true.
You keep developing your skills a little more every day. I can see that you’re wanting to crawl. You put yourself onto your knees, but once you’re there, you’re not sure what’s next. I’m quite sure you’ll figure it out soon. I’m so excited for you, but at the same time, I’m terrified. Once you’re mobile we’re going to have to watch you even more closely. We won’t be able to leave you out of our site for a second, not even to use the loo. Oh boy!

We love to watch you grow. You’re such a little boy and the little ‘baby’ in you are futher and futher away and a thing of the past with every nap you take.

We’ve started to plan your first birthday (rainbow) party. We have so many ideas and things to prepare. Time is running out, there is only 4 months to go. I can’t believe it. Eeeek!

Love you little dude!

P.S. If you missed the other months, read them here: 1, 2, 34, 5and 7.

Little Odie

We urgently have to start baby proofing the house. Now that you’re cruising around in your walker, you’ve started to open the kitchen cupboard doors. I foresee you unpacking the kitchen on a regular basis.

You want to touch and taste everything new. You love to share my tea and sip it from a small spoon. One of your favorite things to do at granny Gladys’ house is gardening. You really enjoy touching the yellow flowers and to pull the plants out of the dirt. (Granny said she doesn’t mind.)

You laugh loudly when we kiss your neck.

Each day you make new and different noises. You try to mimic us and it often sounds like you’re saying “hel-lo”. However it sounds more like “Heh-ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow”.

Your daddy and I love to take you toy shopping. When you’re with your immediate reaction show us which toy is a hit or miss. It’s a little soon, but we got you a rocking horse. We’re still deciding how to paint it. We also got you a little wooden high chair so you can sit on your own at dinner time. It’s much easier now to keep your little hands out of my food. 😉

You sit between daddy and I at dinner time. When daddy rests his arm on the back of your little high chair he looks so happy to have you as his little boy. It makes me smile and so happy to see him so content.

You are our little honey and we love you SO much. We protect you from any hurt and pain and if we could will give you the world in a heartbeat.

You are so special. Happy seven months my boy!

Little Odie

This past month has been a busy one. A busy one filled with a multitude of new things.

Overnight you changed from my tiny baby to a real little boy. My always happy, smiling little boy that sits and eat solid food. I can tell you and daddy are going to argue over chocolate when you are bigger. You completely demolished an Easter egg when I offered you a taste.

You are exploring and learning so many new things every day. A lot more than I can comprehend. You are curious and touch anything you can reach. Everything you can get your hands on go into your mouth: your toes, Lily’s tail and even Daisy the dachshund.

Your face lights up and you get terribly excited when you see the animals. Now that you have a walking ring, you are starting to chase after Lily and Poppy. You even caught me by my skirt while I was cooking last night! 🙂

Little honey, you are such a delight to have in our life. Your daddy and I love you to Mars and back.

See month 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 here.

Yesterday was my first Mother’s day as a mom and I thought it quite appropriate to share some photos that a photographer friend of mine, Dawid Roux Photography, came to take of our family just over a month ago. I love this little boy so much and feel so lucky to get to be his mommy.

Jono, thank you for making me a mommy and thank you for making me feel SO special. Your immense (daily) help make me be a better mommy. I’m so glad you are my “partner in crime” raising this rad little dude. I love you guys so much.

My little honey, Odie

I can not believe you are already 5 months old. You have completely stolen my and your daddy’s hearts. So much so that we battle to remember a time when you weren’t with us. We love you SO much. You are so small, yet I can’t believe how MUCH we love you. My heart overflows with smiles for you. You often reach out to me and put your little hand on my mouth and you won’t move your hand until I kiss it: Mwah! You always smile after a kiss like that.

You laugh and smile a lot. You’re experimenting with the sounds your little mouth makes. It is such a privilege to watch you grow. I’m sad to see one stage depart and a new one start. My favorite stage is always the latest one.

You love to play with your toes. You always smile when you see Lily and Poppy. Lily is always close by, watches over you and showers you with kisses.

You get a ton of kisses daily. When it’s not me or your daddy kissing you, it’s your Granny Gladys or Granddaddy David. In fact, you’ve been getting so many kisses that your little cheeks were red and dry. Oops!

I started work again this month and you stay with Granny Gladys and Granddaddy David at their guesthouse when we are at work. I’m so grateful that they can look after you. I know that they are the best people to leave you with if daddy and I am unable to look after you. Besides, we need to make money so we can send you to private school. We have so many dreams for you. You can be anything you want to be when you grow up. We love you so much, but we’re going to kick your ass if you become a hippy.

So much love and two tons of kisses.

Mama

See month 1, 2, 3 and 4 here.

odin-month4-photo1 odin-month4-photo2I can’t believe you are 4 months old already. What’s even more incredible, is that you are now nearly double your weight since birth. Your beautiful little personality is starting to shine through each of your lovely gummy smiles.

We have laugh marathons where we smile and laugh at you with you smiling and laughing back. They last so long that my face eventually hurts?!

You have started to touch your toes. You have a grand time playing with them. You’ve also started to touch our faces. Your little mind is exploring and learning so much at the moment.

You are fascinated by your canine sisters Lily and Poppy. You love to see the animals at your granny Gladys’ guesthouse and smiled really big when you touched the cats Poplap and Lover.

You are a real little boy. When we make fart sounds with our mouths you always laugh. You also love and laugh when we give you kisses. Except when your grandaddy David kisses your cheek…. He has a mustache that tickles your face so you cringe whenever he gives you a kiss.

Your little cringes are too adorable; much like everything about you!
